EICA Ratho has spectacular top rope walls (where the rope is already in place on the wall) and magnificent lead climbing facilities (where you clip the rope in as you climb). Having mastered climbing on the top rope walls to grade 5+ the next challenge is to make the transition to lead climbing.
If you’ve reached this transition then this is the perfect course to enable you to face the next test. Becoming competent in lead climbing will give you the skills and confidence to try any of the routes in the EICA, Ratho arena- that’s somewhere in the region of 250 routes to perfect.
Lead climbing adds a further exciting dimension to climbing for the indoor climber adding a new and different physical and mental challenge. With lead climbing you are up in front with no rope above you which adds to the challenge but gives you an even greater sense of achievement when you complete a climb.
The course will cover not just the lead climbing techniques but also the techniques for belaying on the lead walls.
