Guest Lectures Jennifer Pugh

Guest lecture series

News & Events > Guest lecture series

One of the great things about climbing is the experiences and memories you take away from it. Tales to regale others with, awesome moments of fear, panic, exhilaration and delight which stick in your memory and the memories of all those you tell.

That’s why at the EICA we’ve invited a series of guest lecturers from the world of climbing to come in and share with you their stories. Perhaps inspiring you to do more and one day come back to share your adventures.

If you would like to see both lectures you can purchase a joint ticket for only £10.00.

JENNIFER PUGH: 'Artic Foxes', Wednesday 21 January 2009 @ 7.30pm

In May 2006 the Arctic Foxes, of which Jennifer is a part, became the first British all-female team to cross the Greenland ice-cap. Braving temperatures as low as minus 40°C and bitter Arctic winds, the Foxes crossed this hostile terrain using power kites, which pulled them across the snow on skis.

Tickets available from EICA: Ratho reception, £5.00.

JAMIE ANDREW: 'Life and Limb', Wednesday 11 February 2009 @ 7.30pm

Jamie Andrew is an incredible mountaineer from Scotland who lost his hands and feet in a horrific accident in the French Alps.

Miraculously, despite his handicap, Jamie has carried on with his mountaineering career and has made some amazing ascents all over the world, raising many thousands of pounds for charity along the way.

He is a great inspiration and motivational speaker and tells his story with passion, enthusiasm, sincerity and humour and invariably leaves no-one in the audience unaffected.

Tickets available from EICA: Ratho reception, £7.00 if booked in advance and £8.00 on the door.

JOINT TICKETS: if you would like to see both inspiring lectures you can buy a joint ticket for only £10.00
