This year the biggest climbing competition in the international calendar, was held from the 9th - 12th of September at the biggest climbing arena in the world; the EICA!

The venue proved to be the perfect stage for the most prestigious competition in the world for youths and juniors! 

The World Youth Championships, which location changes every year (Ecuador hosting it in 2007, Australia in 2008, France in 2009), was a huge succes welcoming more than 430 competitors, aged between 13 and 18 years, from more than 39 different countries.

Lead competition results:

Two Gold medals went to Germany, Thomas Tauporn (JM) and Sebastian Alenke (YBM):  one to Slovenia, Jure Raztresen (YAM):  one to Italy, Alexandra Ladurner (JF):  one to France, Helene Janicot (YAF):  one to Ukraine, Ievgenia Kasbekova (YBF)

Speed competition results:

Three Gold medals went to Russia, Anna Tsyganova (YAF) Viacheslav Vedenchuk (YAM) and George Artamonov (YBM): one to Poland, Klaudia Buczek (JF):  one to Kazakhstan, Sayat Bokanov (JM):  one to the USA, Dana Riddle (YBS).

At the end of the closing ceremony, the IFSC flag was passed on to a delegate from Austria for the XIX World Youth Championships, which is to be held in Imst in 2011.
